About this series
Miaka was just an average student preparing to take the exams for high school. She goes to study with her extremely smart best friend Yui, when she and her friend are drawn into the book, "The Universe of the Four Gods." There, she is offered the position of the Priestess of Suzaku, one of the gods, to be awarded 3 wishes. In order to summon Suzaku, she must find the 7 celestial warriors of Suzaku, which are identified by a character somewhere on their body. Along the way, her friend Yui is made the Priestess of Seiryu and turns into her enemy. As Miaka goes to find the Celestial warriors, many turns and obstacles are in her path. She must fight the warriors of Seiryu and save Konan and her life.

This OVA series (FUSHIGI YUGI - THE MYSTERIOUS PLAY SPECIAL) picks up where that series ends, and old enemies are coming back to exact their revenge. This time, Tamahome is sucked into the book, perhaps to become one of the Seiryu Seven. Later, Miaka and Tamahome sort out the troubles that Tamahome's memory loss has caused their relationship. Unfortunately, before they get a chance to resolve anything, Shigyou, a new student, throws their lives into turmoil. Shigyou, who displays an unsettling knowledge of "The Universe of the Four Gods" manages to trap both Tamahome and Miaka there. leaving them to deal with more serious problems than their relationship woes. Contains all nine episodes.

After years of waiting, Fushigi Yuugi returns to animation with an all new third OAV series based on Yuu Watase's "Gaiden" (side story) Fushigi Yuugi novels. Miaka and Taka Sukunami (the reincarnation of Tamahome) get married, but new friends, rivals and adventure still awaits them.
